Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and Brooklyn Community Improvement Association Joined Together to Propagate the Publication of 8th Avenue’s First Consumer Guide
Brooklyn Community Improvement Association (BCIA) and Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce joined together to promote business development by publishing the first edition of the Chinese and English consumer guide Country Home Style Cooking in Brooklyn this week. This guide introduces all types of restaurants on 8th Avenue.
According to Chinese representative of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Ms. Jin Ning Lei (phonetic), a new edition of the 8th Avenue consumer guide will be published annually and it will not be limited to restaurants only. They will continue to ask other businesses to join and promote their services.
Ms. Lei said they only printed 500 copies of the consumer guide this time. Other than handing them out at events being hosted by Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, copies will also be available at the Brooklyn Community Improvement Association located at 720 57th Street and some businesses on 8th Avenue. The goal is to introduce 8th Avenue to locals and tourists from other countries, so that they can find the shops they like.

“We plan to present the unique characteristics of 8th Avenue to attract local people and tourists from other countries to come to 8th Avenue in order to promote the growth of this new Chinatown,” said Ms. Lei.

Jin Ning Lei pointed out that Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is one of the biggest chamber of commerce in the country. Every year they attend commerce meetings all over the country. They will start promoting 8th Avenue at these events. In addition, 8th Avenue will also be promoted on the website www.ibrooklyn.com, where countless numbers of people visit on a daily basis.
Ms. Lei said that 8th Avenue is in fact the largest Chinatown in the United States. Along with the publication of the consumer guide, Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and BCIA plan to have an 8th Avenue Restaurant Week and attract customers with discount prices.
The 8th Avenue consumer guide has the full support of Assemblyman Peter Abbate. His Community Liaison Irene Qu pointed out that this plan was brought up two to three years ago. All the groups involved agreed that after years of development, 8th Avenue now has everything; therefore it is necessary to promote community growth with an effective plan.

The first edition of Country Home Style Cooking in Brooklyn mainly recommends restaurants, which includes Fujianese restaurant Everett C & C, Yun Nan Flavor Garden, Mister Hot Pot, Kung Fu Tea, Xinfa Bakery and Lucky Eight.
