Car accidents in New York can happen at any time on our streets and roads. It only takes one inattentive driver or one blown tire to potentially trigger a car accident with tragic consequences. This is what happened recently on the Hutchinson River Parkway in the Bronx. An early morning accident killed two people in a livery cab; three others were injured.
According to law enforcement officers, the crash was sparked when an SUV driver somehow lost control of his vehicle while traveling at a high rate of speed on the parkway. The vehicle swerved into a guard rail on the side of the road. At that point, the driver apparently tried to correct the mistake — but swerved back into traffic.
When this happened, the SUV struck a livery cab that had two people inside. The impact caused the livery cab to strike a third vehicle. When all was said and done, the two people in the livery cab died from their injuries. Three other people were injured, including the driver of the SUV.

It wasn’t clear why the SUV was moving erratically on the road. It wasn’t immediately disclosed if the police suspected the driver of being under the influence, if a cellphone was in use at the time, or if there was a mechanical malfunction with the car. In any case, it seems likely that the victims and families of the victims of the accident might want to consult with an experienced New York car accident attorney to determine what steps they will take next.
