Douglas Hoffer New York

Since joining the firm in 1998, Mr. Hoffer has litigated hundreds of personal injury matters on behalf of his injured clients. Throughout his tenure at Dansker & Aspromonte, Mr. Hoffer has obtained many jury verdicts and settlements during trial in excess of $1 million, including a verdict of $2.4 million for an injured bicyclist; $1.9 million for a pedestrian who fell through a covered hole; $1.3 million for an injured construction worker; $1.2 million for a child injured by a defective school slide; and a $6.5 million settlement for a child injured by medical negligence. He recently achieved a $6.6 million verdict for a young girl who was severely injured in a motor vehicle accident.

Mr. Hoffer graduated from Bowdoin College in 1989 with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Comparative Religion and Government. As an undergraduate he volunteered for several programs benefiting those most in need. He served as a “Big Brother” for one special needs child during his entire four-year college term; as a counselor at a group home for abused children; and he worked as a counselor in a camp for physically and mentally handicapped young adults. After graduating from Bowdoin, Mr. Hoffer worked for United Cerebral Palsy for a year as a respite worker for individuals with physical handicaps.

To further his commitment to working for those most in need, Mr. Hoffer enrolled at C.U.N.Y. Law School because of its strong dedication to public interest legal services. While in law school, Mr. Hoffer worked at Brooklyn Legal Services in East New York, Brooklyn, assisting low-income clients with physical and mental disabilities to obtain Social Security Disability benefits. He also worked as a clerk for Judge Helen Freedman of the New York County Supreme Court and researched and wrote several legal decisions during his student clerkship.

Mr. Hoffer has been a member of the New York and New Jersey state bars since 1994 and is admitted to practice in the Federal Court in the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. He is also a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and New York County Lawyers’ Association.
