A car-motorcycle accident on Long Island Sunday afternoon left the driver of the motorcycle seriously injured.
The car accident is still under investigation, but authorities think they have come up with a preliminary chain of events. Evidently, a 30-year-old man was riding his 2003 Yamaha motorcycle soutbound on Indian Head Road in Kings Park. He struck a 2011 Honda that turned left in front of him. The car contained two 82-year-old sisters.
After the accident, the motorcyclist was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital. His injuries are believed to be non life-threatening. He was ticketed for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, having an unregistered motor vehicle and having an uninspected motor vehicle.
Both of the women in the Honda were taken to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown. Their injuries are believed to have been minor.

The investigation into the accident is still under way by Suffolk County authorities. Although the man was ticketed for minor traffic violations, that should not be taken to mean that he is automatically responsible for what happened.
