Car accidents of some kind are practically inevitable for residents of New York City. Recently in Queens, a man who was selling water on the sidewalk on a hot day was hit by an out-of-control vehicle. It isn’t clear what led the 78-year-old driver of the sedan to lose control of his vehicle, but the results were disastrous. The water vendor was killed. In a tragic coincidence, the deceased man’s brother said that their mother was fatally struck by a car a few years ago. The man said he and his family had been making plans to visit her grave at the cemetery, but now they are faced with having to say goodbye to another family member.

Even if someone is not criminally charged in a fatal automobile accident, such as the driver in this case, a driver who is responsible for taking the life of a pedestrian is not completely off the hook.
