Injuries sustained on the job continue to be a major issue in this country. While the goal for all places of business should be zero workplace accidents, the reality is that employees in all sorts of jobs — not just blue-collar positions — run the risk of getting hurt in some way or another.  Our NYC Workplace Injury Lawyers at Dansker & Aspromonte Associates LLP can help when these workplace injuries occur.

In New York, at least, the numbers are positive when it comes to employees in the private sector. For 2012, the most recent year that data is available, workers in non-government jobs reported 146,000 illnesses or injuries from the workplace that were nonfatal.

Unquestionably, this is still a huge number. However, if we take a step back and look at the bigger picture, the numbers are considerably more positive. New York is the third-most populated state in the union; as a result, we have more workers than most other states. On an adjusted basis, New York had 2.5 cases of injury or illness per 100 private full-time employees in 2012. That makes our state one of just eight to record a significant decrease.

Meanwhile, the number of injuries and illnesses among local and state government employees was considerably higher: just under 70,000 total, or about 7 cases per 100. That is more than the national average of about 5.6 per 100 workers. Of that number in New York, nearly 80 percent were among local government employees.

All in all, it doesn’t matter if you work for the government or a private enterprise: on-the-job injuries or illnesses sustained make you eligible for workers’ compensation. And our Manhattan construction accident lawyers will make sure you receive all of the benefits you deserve.
